Mosquito is played by 10 and 11 year old boys and girls.  Normal baseball rules apply, with the following exceptions: no lead-offs, no balks, no batters running on a dropped third strike, and no infield flies. Runners may leave their bases the moment the ball is pitched, not before.

Each player on the team must play a minimum of three innings on defense within the first five innings. One of these must be in the infield. It is required that each player plays at least two innings in the infield. Four outfielders will be used in an outfield position. Pitchers are allowed a maximum of six consecutive outs in one appearance.

Games start at 6:30 PM, and seven innings constitutes a complete game. No new inning can start 1 hour 45 mins from the scheduled game time. There is no grace period at the beginning of the game; all games officially begin at the scheduled game time.

Fields vary based on the schedule set at the beginning of the season. The season begins in the second week of May and ends at the end of July. Play offs begin in August.

Required equipment includes a regulation baseball glove, batting helmet, good running shoes or plastic cleats, a jock or jill strap, and full length pants without zippers or buttons (no jeans, tear-aways or shorts; baseball pants or sweat pants are acceptable). Players will be provided a team jersey and a baseball hat. If players wish to use their own bats, please see WMBA Personal Bats policy under house league tab. Metal cleats are not acceptable and will not be allowed on the field.
